Vita Art Center is looking for a select group of High School students or older to volunteer in assisting our instructors in teaching art to youth. If you are 14 or older, dependable, love art and like working with younger children the Vita Art Center would like you to join our team of volunteers. AGES 8 & UP. Vita Art Center's Art Academy is a hands on creative studio environment that teaches the fundamentals of art and the development of each student's artistic skills, expression, style and visual vocabulary. The year long program will help students develop core skills and a strong foundation to build their artistic talents on. Each section is taught by outstanding local artists/instructors each teaching in their area of expertise. Spaces are limited and fill on a first come first serve basis. Art Explorers will spend the week exploring some of Ventura’s best art and nature spots. We will find inspiration to create our own art. The museum, local galleries, artist studios, the beach and botanic gardens are all on the list. We will all meet at Vita Art Center before taking off for our days adventure the second half of each class will be spent making and learning techniques in painting, drawing, sculpting, and more.

This is the perfect camp for kids that love to move and create! Each class will include time for yoga where we will play with poses, learn breathing exercises, and new ways to relax. After yoga the rest of the day will be spent creating art. Painting, drawing and sculpting will be explored throughout the week.

Megan Bisbee, BFA, CTY 200-hr, MFTt has been teaching art, yoga and mindfulness meditation for over ten years. She is also currently a practicing psychotherapist specializing in depth work. Her teaching is based on her own work around the power of self-knowing to ease stress, find self-acceptance, embrace joy, and live deeply.

Question like a scientist and create like an artist. Projects throughout the week will combine the 2 worlds with hands on activities that include creative thinking and problem-solving. Experiments and art projects will make for a fun and engaging week. We will make some of our own art materials, use art to record what we observe, design, build and have a fun time doing it all.
